== Les réfugiés ==<br />

En juin 1940, les réfugiés des Ardennes arrivent dans la commune. Il fait très beau et le maire décide de les accueillir en installant tables et bancs sur la place pour leur offrir à manger. Avec l’aide de M. Chantecaille, le charcutier, il leur est préparé une soupe au boudin. <br />
<br />
Cette soupe très appréciée des souchéens mais apparemment inconnue à Sedan était faite avec les restes de la cuisine et le jus des boudins. A la vue de ce brouet noirâtre, ils ont d’abord cru que l’on se moquait d’eux et en ont fait ensuite une chanson. Tout s’arrangea : souchéens et sedanais apprirent à se connaître et quand ils repartirent, beaucoup eurent de la peine.<br />
